How Diepreye Alamieyeseigha jumped bail and returned to Nigeria

That the Bayelsa Governor had disappeared from London and re-appeared in Nigeria is no longer news. The ridiculous part is how this ‘mafia-style’ operation was carried out. Read on…

Bayelsa Governor - Diepreye Alamieyeseigha

The journey to the travails of Governor Diepreye Solomon Alamieyeseigha started when he had to travel to Germany for a major surgery to reduce the fat around his abdominal area. Following a successful operation, the governor headed for London to recuperate and that was the beginning of his troubles.

Bayelsa State governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha yesterday fled London where he was being tried for laundering $3.2 million.

I read a Reuters report this morning saying that:

Diepreye Alamieyeseigha earned the title of “Master of Deception” in Tuesday’s This Day newspaper, which published a digital photo-montage of him in a red dress, sparkling necklace, red woman’s head-dress and lipstick.

If I lay my hands on this pic, I’d publish it. Now, read this:

“But Alamieyeseigha forfeited a 1.25 million pound bond, jumped bail and made his way home with forged documents and wearing women’s clothes, according to the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Tuesday’s Vanguard newspaper, quoting a security source, said the governor took a train from London to Paris, then flew from Paris to Douala, a port in Cameroon which neighbors Nigeria.

There, a speedboat was waiting to whisk him back to his home village of Amassoma, in the mangrove swamps and creeks of the Niger Delta, where he arrived in the dead of night.”

Why do this politicians keep damaging what is left of our already battered image? A governor of a state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, dressing as a woman, forging documents, jumping bail, forfeiting 1.25 million pounds sterling!?!?! HOW?

Why are some individuals so greedy and unscrupulous? WHY? I can’t understand this.

Now, Reuters used the headline: “Cross-dressing governor’s escape fascinates Nigeria”. The question here is, fascinates who??? I’m sure they were referring to his political alies who were dancing, since they’d get some share of the booty.

Not all Nigerians are happy about his activities.

This is shameful indeed.
